Sustainability

Filson and sustainability

Filson s.r.o. places great emphasis on the topic of sustainability and this topic is not just a general phrase for the company. We strive to contribute to sustainable development and work with our customers and business partners to reduce potential impacts. As Europes leading manufacturer of automotive cleaning and care products and operating fluids, we want to actively contribute to solving global environmental problems in areas that fall within our responsibility and influence. We consciously allocate our financial resources so that our investments meet todays needs without compromising the resources of future generations.

Biodegradability

Our washer fluid and cleaning products are 100% biodegradable

Circular economy

In the field of packaging materials, we are trying to make the most of the principles of introducing elements of the circular economy

Heat recovery heating

Unique heat recovery system for heating the entire production plant

Own solar power plant

Own solar power plant reduces its carbon footprint by more than 160 tonnes of CO2

Recyclable packaging

Higher proportion of recycled material in the production of plastic packaging

Water and soil protection

Goals and programs to avoid and reduce wastewater generation, as well as to protect against soil contamination, air pollution and noise

Aware of the importance of this issue, we are not content with mere general proclamations, but instead take concrete action:

As one of the first companies in the industry, since 2016 we have started to work with a higher proportion of recycled material in the production of plastic packaging for working fluids, in order to minimize the proportion of non-recycled material, and today we are already able to offer our customers packaging with a 100% recycled content in the packaging that we offer for sale to our customers, so that we actively participate in reducing the use of plastic packaging in the world, so we also place a parallel emphasis on reducing the weight of PET packaging . At the same time, in the field of packaging materials, we are trying to make the most of the principles of introducing elements of the circular economy, e.g. by joining the CHEP pallet exchange system.

During the construction of the new plant in Velvary in 2022, the company focused on reducing the use of energy resources and introduced a unique heat recovery system for heating the entire production plant, which reduced the use of gas in the production plant by more than 93% compared to the original situation.

In 2023, it built and commissioned its own solar power plant, which enables the company to be energy self-sufficient at a minimum level of 30% of its original state and reduces its carbon footprint by more than 160 tonnes of CO2.

As of 2023, we have committed to certifying our environmental management system to the international ISO 14001 standard, resulting in corporate goals and programs to avoid and reduce wastewater generation, as well as to protect against soil contamination, air pollution and noise.

As part of our new product development, we are constantly working to modify the formulations we offer so that we are able to reduce the proportion of harmful and hazardous substances (we minimize the use of palm-oil based tensides, preferring RSPO-certified tensides from sustainable sources where appropriate, and we have reduced products containing microplastics ) and we are constantly working on product development so that we are able to provide and market products that do not harm the environment in the long term and allow the conservation of resources for future generations. (we are working towards a gradual transition to tensides made from sustainable natural raw materials, our washer fluid and cleaning products are 100% biodegradable, while at the same time emphasizing formulation and packaging efficiency and implementing the transition from plastic to paper group packs as much as possible)

We believe that our solutions enable our customers to become more sustainable. However, as our own production is CO2-intensive, we want to go one step further and adapt our production method throughout the entire production chain. In doing so, we are guided by two basic principles: our goals may be ambitious, but our promises must be realistic.

But we have no time to waste. If our planet is to remain habitable for future generations, humanity must collectively accelerate the pace of creating a more sustainable future.  We are convinced that our innovations have the power to support one of the greatest challenges of our time and minimise the impact of our production on climate change.
